The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed a total number of 593 new COVID-19 coronavirus cases in the country Wednesday night.
The total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria is now 50, 488 with 37,304 patients discharged and 985 deaths recorded.
As of August 18, the confirmed coronavirus death toll on the African continent stood at 26,329.There are 1,137,941 confirmed infections and 860,662 recoveries, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
Worldwide, the number of those diagnosed with COVID-19 has exceeded 22 million. According to Johns Hopkins University, the global total of confirmed coronavirus cases is now more than 22.2 million. More than 784,000 people have died, while 14.2 million have recovered.
