Nigeria’s confirmed coronavirus infections have hit 38,948 with the addition of 604 fresh cases, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has said.
The agency, which made the announcement via its twitter handle Thursday night, also provided the total number of deaths from the virus in the country as 833, while the number of recoveries has increased to 16,061.
Lagos recorded 203 new cases, followed by Oyo with 87, FCT-79, Edo-41, Osun-35, Ogun-24, Rivers-22, Kaduna-22, Akwa, Ibom-20 and Plateau-18. Others are Delta-9, Ebonyi-9, Imo-8, Enugu-5
Kano-5, Cross River-5, Katsina-4, Nasarawa-3, Borno-2, Ekiti-2 and Bauchi-1.
As of July 23, the confirmed coronavirus death toll on the African continent stood at 16,423. There are 768,978 confirmed infections and 434,973 recoveries, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
Over 15.4 million people around the world have been diagnosed with COVID-19, and at least 8.7 million people have recovered, while more than 631,000 have died – according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
