Nigeria’s confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus reached 24,077 on Saturday following 779 fresh infections.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made this known in its daily Twitter update.
The total confirmed cases so far in Nigeria now stands at 24,077 of which 8,625 have been discharged, while the infection has sadly claimed 558 lives.
Global coronavirus cases exceeded 10 million on Sunday according to a Reuters tally, marking a major milestone in the spread of the respiratory disease that has so far killed almost half a million people in seven months. The figure is roughly double the number of severe influenza illnesses recorded annually, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). More than 5 million of the patients have recovered.
