96 houses burnt in Plateau community (DailyTrust)
Ninety-six houses have been razed in Gyenbwas, a community in Langai district, Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.
Residents alleged that the perpetrators looted food, mattresses, cattle and other valuables.

FG budget cut leaves 1,500 health workers without pay (Punch)
Over 1,500 health professionals under the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria have not been paid salaries in the last 20 months.
The inability of the council to pay stemmed from the directive of the Federal Government to cut off funding from certain agencies of government.
Environmental Health Council of Nigeria, established by Act 11 of 2002 as amended, is Nigeria’s primary body overseeing environmental health regulations and a wide range of activities that prevent the spread of diseases. Read more

The visit was announced through a Facebook post by Ajísebí Ọ̀yọ́ Radio, which shared photos from the event along with a caption written in Yoruba.

Diesel, petrol to cost more as four depot owners raise prices (Vanguard)
There were indications, yesterday, that the pump prices of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), also known as diesel and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol would rise in the domestic market, due to rise in the price of Nigeria’s Bonny Light rising by 3.84 per cent to $67.50 per barrel from $65 per barrel last week in the global market.
Checks by Vanguard indicated that four depot owners yesterday increased the price of either diesel or petrol to more than N1, 050 per litre and N869 per litre, respectively.
The depot owners include First Fortune, Chisco, Chipet and Master Energy. First Fortune increased the depot price of diesel to N950 per litre from N945 per litre, while Chisco adjusted to N1,050 per litre from N1,045 per litre. Read more

Outrage in Kenya as autopsy reveals a blogger was strangled in police custody (AfricaNews)
Protests erupted in Nairobi on Monday and Tuesday over the death of Kenyan blogger Albert Ojwang, who was found dead after being in custody at the location on Sunday.
According to the police, he injured himself by banging his head against the wall in his cell. However, an autopsy conducted on Tuesday indicated that Ojwang was strangled in police custody.
According to government pathologist Dr. Bernard Midia, Ojwang sustained multiple injuries consistent with assault, not self-harm. Read more
Ye has changed his name again (VIBE)
Kanye West has once again changed his name. The artist formerly known as Kanye legally changed his name to Ye in 2021 and has now updated his moniker to “Ye Ye,” according to business documents obtained by Page Six.
The filings, submitted by Hussain Lalani, his chief financial officer, show the new name listed across multiple business entities, including Yeezy Apparel, Yeezy Record Label, LLC, and Getting Out Our Dreams Inc. The paperwork replaces the previously used “Ye West” and identifies “Ye Ye” as the “manager or member name” tied to each company.
Despite the formal change, Ye Ye has yet to publicly acknowledge the new name on his social media accounts. Earlier this month, the rapper announced that he would stop using his @kanyewest X handle, stating, “Ima finally stop using the @kanyewest twitter cause my name is Ye. Curfew ordered for downtown LA to restrain violent protests, vandalism (UPI)
A curfew was ordered for parts of downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday night, after police made more than 114 arrests Monday for looting and vandalism at dozens of businesses. The curfew follows four days of protests directed at Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids and a “concerning escalation” of “unlawful and dangerous behavior,” according to police.
The curfew will go into effect from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. PDT, throughout a one square mile area of downtown Los Angeles, and will continue for the next several days. Residents and those who work in the area are exempt. Fewer than 100,000 people live in the zoned-off area.
“If you do not live or work in downtown LA, avoid the area,” said Mayor Karen Bass. “Law enforcement will arrest individuals who break the curfew, and you will be prosecuted.” Read more
World Bank sounds the alarm as tariff wars bite into global growth (QZ)
The World Bank has slashed its global growth forecast, warning that President Donald Trump’s tariffs and the resulting political uncertainty are dragging the world economy to its weakest non-recessionary pace since 2008.
In a detailed report released Tuesday, the Bank projected global GDP growth will slow to just 2.3% in 2025, a sharp downgrade from January’s 2.7% estimate. That suggests the ongoing trade wars are exerting a 20% drag on the global economy.
The outlook is especially bleak for emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs), with the Bank suggesting that income gaps with richer nations will widen further. Already, foreign direct investment into these economies has fallen to less than half its 2008 peak, with little sign of recovery. Read more
11 people killed in school shooting in the Austrian city of Graz (NBC)
At least 11 people were killed and several others were injured in a school shooting Tuesday in the southern Austrian city of Graz.
A spokesperson for Graz Regional Hospital told NBC News that 11 people had died following the incident at the BORG Dreierschützengasse school, a secondary school in the northwest of the city. Police said the suspected perpetrator was among the dead.
Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner said at a news conference Tuesday that nine lives were “taken from us, including six females and three males.” He added that 12 people were injured. Graz Regional Hospital said a woman who was wounded later died of her injuries. Read more
