AC Milan could test Liverpool’s resolve by making a bid for Fabinho when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Fabinho joined the Reds in a £42.7m deal from Monaco and although he was expected to slot into Jurgen Klopp’s midfield three, the Brazilian has struggled for game time at Anfield.
Despite being fit enough to play, Fabinho didn’t make a Premier League appearance until Liverpool’s ninth game of the season against Huddersfield in late October.
Since then, he’s been given more of a run in the side, featuring in subsequent league fixtures against Cardiff, Arsenal and Fulham, although he was unused in the 2-0 defeat to Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.
Competition in Liverpool’s central midfield has intensified this season with fellow summer recruits Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita also competing alongside Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and James Milner for their places. Read more
