Adeboye condemns banditry attacks on monarchs

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Saturday condemned the recent attacks by bandits on monarchs, describing them as flagrant disrespect to the traditional institution.

Adeboye added that God would put an end to the reign of terror and violence in Nigeria. He, however, urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the country’s survival in view of the problems confronting it.

The cleric spoke in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, during a visit to Governor Kayode Fayemi, saying the traditional institution deserved respect because of the critical role it plays in society.

“It is condemnable, the flagrant disrespect to our traditional institution in Ekiti State in recent times by gunmen,” he said.

Adeboye spoke against the backdrop of attacks on two traditional rulers in Ekiti State recently.

The Elewu of Ewu Ekiti, Oba Adetutu Ajayi, was waylaid and shot by gunmen, though he escaped with gunshot injuries. Also, the Obadu of Ilemeso Ekiti, Oba David Oyewumi, was on Thursday abducted in his palace. His whereabouts remain unknown. (Punch)
