The General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said lack of respect for the traditional institution is one of the reasons perennial challenges facing the nation persist.
The eminent cleric noted that Nigeria is still having some problems because powers of the kings have been tampered with.
Adeboye said this in a sermon, titled: The King of Glory, at the 40th Holy Ghost Convention of the Sword of the Spirit Ministries in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
He said: “If we restore the dignity, the ability and glory of our kings, all will be well.
“That is why in Yoruba land, we call them (monarchs) alase; that is, those who rule by decree, just like what Almighty God did in Genesis 1:3. ‘Let there be light’ and immediately there was light.
“A king is someone who does what he wants and nobody can query him. That is why, again in Yoruba land, we call them kabyesi, the one who rules by decree and you cannot query.”
President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), who is also the Presiding Bishop of The Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Bishop Wale Oke said the convention was used to provide strategic shift in the plan of God for Nigeria.
The bishop said God would do it again, particularly at this crucial time in the history of the nation.
He added that the convention provided the opportunity for believers of all denominations to be blessed, empowered and to enjoy rich fellowship and divine connections of all kinds.
