More security operatives have been deployed to apartments rented by students in Sabon Gida community after two female students were abducted on Sunday.
Suspected bandits had abducted two female students of the Federal University, Gusau in Zamfara State after they broke into a rented apartment in Sabon Gida community.
The armed criminals who stormed Sabon Gida village in Bungudu locked up two civilian guards in the rented female apartment, dispossessed them of their handsets and later abducted the two female students of microbiology department of the university.
Sabon Gida is a host community of the university and is located just a kilometre from the main campus of the university. Students used to rent houses in the community for accommodation. Read more
Whitney: Coroner okays Chrisland’s independent autopsy (Punch)
The parents of a 12-year-old pupil of Chrisland International School Limited, Whitney Adeniran, who died on February 9, 2023, during the school’s inter-house sports activities at the Agege Sports Stadium, will testify before a Coroner’s Inquest at the Ogba Magistrate’s Court on April 17.
The Coroner Magistrate, Olabisi Fajana, disclosed this on Tuesday when she ruled on the application of the school seeking samples and materials to carry out an independent evaluation of the autopsy report conducted by the Lagos State Government.
This is just as the coroner granted the school’s request to consult an independent pathologist in the bid to ascertain the true cause of the pupil’s death. Read more

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Tuesday rescued 10 severely injured road crash victims at Adeniji Adele junction inward Obalende by 3rd Mainland Bridge, Lagos.
Lastma Adejunwon Olalekan (Bravo 1) who led the rescue operations confirmed that it was a lone accident of a commercial Mazda bus with registration no IKJ 969 YA.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the Mazda commercial bus lost control as a result of over speeding and somersaulted leaving 10 passengers with severe injuries. Read more

Wife of Lagos State governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated the commitment of the present administration to the wellbeing of students in the state, handing over a modern sick bay to Dolphin Junior High School in the Simpson area of Lagos Island.
At the handing over ceremony, the governor’s wife said the facility represents the commitment of the state government to the welfare and well-being of students in the state.

Members of the Lagos State Park Management Agency, LSPMA, yesterday, called on the Lagos State government to save them from illegal taxes levied on them by the leadership of the union.
Addressing newsmen in Ikorodu, Lagos, the chairman of the Kabukabu Intercity Ayangburen Zone 2, Ikorodu, Kolawole Ajisebutu, expressed his displeasure over what he described as illegal taxes levied on them by the leadership of the union, urging the state government to come to their aid.
Ajisebu said: “Officials of the union are demanding too much from our members by introducing illegal levies, including N90,000 levy for members identification card from each of the chapel as well as another N90,000 for the inauguration of the leadership from each of the zonal chairmen. Read more

The notoriously unkillable assassin played by Keanu Reeves – who has portrayed the character in four films thus far, most recently in last month’s well-received John Wick: Chapter 4 – will again be seen in next year’s spinoff movie “Ballerina,” studio Lionsgate announced Tuesday.
The film, which will expand on a character enigmatically named Ballerina introduced in 2019’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, will also feature Oscar nominee Ana de Armas, as “an assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma,” according to the announcement. Read more
Christine McVie’s cause of death revealed (Deadline)
Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie died of an ischaemic stroke, according to a death certificate obtained by The Blast. The document also said she had been diagnosed with “metastatic malignancy of unknown primary origin,” or cancer where a tumor is not detected.
The band’s longtime singer, songwriter and keyboardist died November 30 at 79 of what originally was described as a brief illness.
An ischaemic stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is interrupted or reduced. The cancer was listed as a secondary source of McVie’s death. Read more

The 54-year-old actor announced in an Instagram video posted Monday night that he had two biopsies for spots on his nose that his doctor said may be basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer that is diagnosed about 3.6 million times per year in the U.S., according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.

Angels’ Anthony Rendon to serve 4-game suspension (ABC)
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon will serve a four-game suspension for a public altercation with a fan in Oakland last week, videos of which circulated on social media, sources told ESPN on Monday.
Major League Baseball initially handed Rendon a five-game suspension on Monday, which Rendon threatened to appeal. A subsequent negotiated settlement between MLB and the MLB Players’ Association reduced Rendon’s suspension to four games that must be served immediately, sources said, beginning with the Angels’ road game against the division-rival Seattle Mariners later Monday afternoon.
Rendon, who was also fined an undisclosed amount, grabbed the fan by the shirt as he was making his way out of the first-base dugout and into the tunnel that leads to the visitors’ clubhouse at RingCentral Coliseum on Thursday night in the aftermath of the Angels’ 2-1 Opening Day loss to the Oakland Athletics.
