Barely two weeks after over 30 vehicles were vandalised in street fights at Ijeshatedo, Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos, hoodlums have struck again.
The rampaging hooligans were said to have destroyed over 40 vehicles at Adekunle Kuye Street, Aguda in Coker-Aguda LCDA and Ogunsami Street, Ijeshatedo.
Residents appealed to Commissioner of Police (CP) Olusegun Odumosun to restore sanity in the communities. Read more
LASG seals 20 facilities, warns against attack on officials (Vanguard)
The Lagos State Government warned the general public, particularly unrepentant noise polluters, to desist from attacking its officials on duty or face the full wrath of the law.
The warning came on the heels of a clampdown by Lagos State Environment Protection Agency (LASEPA) to curb the menace of noise pollution in the state.
The General-Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, that the agency clamped down on more than 20 facilities over various environmental related issues in its determination to curb the menace of environmental nuisances and further restore sanity and orderliness across the state. Read more
One dies, two injured in road crash on Lagos-Abeokuta expressway (Guardian)
The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), on Sunday, said that one person died, while two others sustained injuries in a road accident that occurred at Onihale area, near Owode-Ijako, on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
Mrs Temitope Oseni, the TRACE Unit Commander, Owode-Ijako, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun, that the accident occurred at about 6.15 am. on Sunday.
She explained that a truck, with no registration number, heading to Sango-Ota from Abeokuta, lost control due to tire burst. Read more

Lagos is littered with abandoned buildings. Some belong to private individuals and firms. Many others belong to governments and their agencies. Their market values run into billions of naira.
Not a few of such buildings were abandoned as a result of the movement of the federal capital from Lagos to Abuja.
There are a number of abandoned buildings, which hosted banks and other businesses. The old Federal Secretariat has been abandoned for years. Others such as the former Ministry of Defence and old parliament building at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) are equally wasting away. Read more
Hospital detains woman, baby over N160,000 medical bills (NewTelegraph)
Tamara Medical Centre, located at Akute, Ogun State, has allegedly detained a woman, Angela Morgan and her two-weeks-old baby, Victor, over unpaid medical bills.
Angela had her ante-natal at the hospital nine months ago, but the doctor later told her husband, Joseph Morgan, that she would have to go through a Caesarean Section.
Joseph, a dry cleaner, said that when the doctor told him about the operation on November 13, he was speechless. According to him, he had only saved N35, 000 in preparation for the delivery of the baby. He never bargained for any complication. He is presently trying to raise N160,000 to pay the hospital, while his wife can no longer walk due to failing health. Read more
Grandma poisons two-day-old baby to stop daughter’s marriage Punch)
A 42-year-old-woman, Temitope Akinola, has allegedly poisoned her granddaughter with an insecticide, Sniper, to stop her daughter’s marriage to her lover.
The suspect, who is a resident of Isote area of Sagamu, allegedly committed the offence last week Thursday and was arrested on the same day by men of Ogun State Police Command.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said in a statement on Sunday that Akinola’s arrest followed information received by the police in the Sagamu Division after the death of the child. Read more

One Sodiq Yusuf, 26, of No. 26, Horgan Bassey Street, Surulere, has said to have drowned at National Stadium, Surulere.
The police in Lagos on Sunday said that a 26-year-old man, Sodiq Yusuf, had drowned inside the National Stadium swimming pool, Surulere.
Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Elkana, said in a statement that a team of policemen was immediately mobilised to the scene. Read more

A Queens grandmother is crediting her smartwatch for saving her life.
Marie Bourque, 74, woke up in the middle of the night in October with an alert from her Apple Watch buzzing her wrist, informing her of an irregular heartbeat. She immediately got herself to the hospital — an act that saved her from a potential stroke or heart attack, had she waited too much longer.
“Without the notification, I would have woken up the next morning — hopefully — and been in a really serious situation,” Bourque tells The Post. Read more
Spain seizes submarine with 2,000kg of cocaine – police sources (BBC)
A submarine loaded with more than 2,000kg (4,409lb) of cocaine has been seized in Spain, police sources say.
They say two people were held after the vessel ran aground off Galicia’s coast in the north-west. A third person fled. They all are said to be from Ecuador.
Spanish media report that the submarine was from Colombia and police are trying to work out whether it sailed all the way from South America with the drugs.
Narco-subs have been used to smuggle drugs from Latin America into the US. Read more
US Navy chief Richard Spencer fired over Seal case (BBC)
US Defence Secretary Mark Esper has fired Navy chief Richard Spencer over his handling of the case of a Navy Seal demoted for misconduct.
The case of Edward Gallagher, who was convicted for posing with a corpse, had sparked tensions between President Donald Trump and military officials.
Chief Gallagher had been due to face a disciplinary review where he could have been stripped of his Seals membership.
There have been contradictory accounts as to why Mr Esper was asked to resign. Read more

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has postponed its annual general congress earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday, December 4, 2019, in Awka, Anambra.
In a letter dated Friday, November 22, 2019, and signed by its Secretary-General, Prince Adisa Adeniyi Beyioku and addressed to all States Athletics Associations, the AFN says it was constrained by circumstances beyond its control to postpone the congress.
“On behalf of the board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, I am directed to inform you of the postponement of the annual general congress earlier scheduled for 4th December 2019 in Awka, Anambra state due to circumstances beyond our control,” read part of the letter to the States Athletics Associations.
