The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has congratulated Maureen Chigbo, publisher of Realnews magazine on her recent election as first female president of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP).
AGN in its congratulatory letter signed by Ejezie Emeka Rollas, national president of AGN, expressed confidence in the new leadership of GOCOP.
“I strongly believe that this victory will propel you and other elected executive members to take GOCOP to higher heights. I pray that the almighty God will give you the wisdom and good health to contribute your quota to the growth and development of not only GOCOP but journalism profession in Nigeria, Rollas said in the letter dated October 11.
The AGN, Rollas added, looks forward to a mutually beneficial working relationship, and with the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
Chigbo, who attended the Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu, and University of Lagos, both in Nigeria, is a multiple award winning journalist, who has bagged both local and international awards and fellowships to show for all the courage, determination and hard work she has put into journalism over the years.
She had her professional training at the International Centre for Foreign Journalists, USA, 1993, and Westminster Press Editorial Training Centre, St. Leonards on Sea, East Sussex, UK 1995.
She is a fellow of the International Centre for Foreign Journalists, Reston, Virginia, USA and Harry Brittain Memorial Fellow of the Commonwealth Press Union, UK. Chigbo is also a Regional Fellow of the Ethiopia-based Tana Forum.
She is a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) and Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).
