Senate President Godswill Akpabio expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief Audu Ogbeh, a revered Nigerian elder statesman. Ogbeh, who served as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development under former President Muhammadu Buhari, died at the age of 76.
Akpabio, in a heartfelt statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, remembered Ogbeh as a “distinguished Nigerian” who dedicated his life to public service and integrity. He highlighted Ogbeh’s significant contributions to the nation, noting his impactful tenures as a two-time minister and his leadership as a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“Chief Ogbeh was an intellectual storehouse whose legacy of service and dedication is a testament to his character and commitment to public service,” Akpabio stated. The Senate President emphasized that Ogbeh’s work in agriculture, rural development, and nation-building would be remembered for years to come.
Akpabio extended his condolences on behalf of his family, constituents, and the entire 10th Senate to Ogbeh’s family, friends, and the people of Benue State. He prayed that the Almighty God would grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
Chief Audu Ogbeh’s career spanned decades, including a role as Minister of Communication in the Second Republic. His death marks the end of an era for a prominent figure in Nigerian politics.
