Gov. Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has acknowledged and commended the role of the Nigerian Armed Forces in safeguarding the stability and peace of the nation.
Alia stated this when he received the Senior Course 46 students of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, on Monday in Makurdi.
He said the expedition will not only avail them an opportunity for academic enrichment.
The governor said they will also learn invaluable lessons embedded within the government, and society’s approach in combating contemporary internal security challenges.
“In this era of ever-evolving security threats, our armed forces play a central role in safeguarding the stability and peace of our beloved nation”.
He said Benue was facing farmers/herder crisis, bandits, kidnappings and land disputes which demand an innovative and comprehensive approach from both government agencies and society at large to address.
The leader of the team and Director of Logistics, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Cdr Robert Obeya thanked Gov Alia for receiving them.
Obeya said the visit would afford them the opportunity to carry out on the spot assessment of the State, to have first-hand knowledge of its activities as regards the efforts of Government in combating Security challenges.
He acknowledged the efforts of the state government in tackling the security challenges in the State, and assured of their collaboration in tackling same. (NAN)
