Alisson has admitted that he felt ‘so sad’ for Loris Karius after he made two costly mistakes in Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League final.
Karim Benzema capitalised on sloppy play from Karius to deflect his attempted throw out in for the opening goal of the game before the German parried Gareth Bale’s speculative effort from distance into his own net for the third late on.
After Karius’ nightmare performance, Jurgen Klopp broke the world transfer record for a goalkeeper in the summer, spending £67m on Alisson from Roma while Karius was allowed to join Besiktas on a two-year loan deal.
Although Alisson directly benefited by joining Liverpool soon after, he insisted that Karius’ errors could have happened to anyone. Read more
