Alleged Sexual Harassment: Barakat’s father withdraws case against Ogun commissioner

The biological father of Melojuekun Barakat, a 16-year-old Secondary School girl who accused Ogun State Environment Commissioner, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun of sexual harassment, Melojuekun Adesola Monsur has said that he was withdrawing the report instituted with the police against the suspended Commissioner.

Not too long after Barakat appeared in a very short clip where she pleaded for the matter to be laid to rest, her father also appeared in another 2.12 minutes clip saying he has no interest again in the matter.

Like his daughter, Mr. Melojuekun also alluded to misconception and misunderstanding between Barakat and the suspended Commissioner, the reason, according to him, was why he had to appeal publicly.

While appreciating the media and the international community for the show of interest in his daughter’s case, Melojuekun appealed for similar support in his decision to withdraw the police case against the Commissioner.

He said, “I am the biological father of Melojuekun Barakat who has recently been in the news about a sexual harassment between her and the current Commissioner for Environment in Ogun State, in person of Hon Abiodun Abudu-Balogun.”

“I want to thank the media for their doggedness and aggressive support to make sure justice prevails. I am using this opportunity to also thank the international community, well meaning Nigerians and all Ogun State indigenes that showed their love and encouragement on this matter.”

“Sincerely, I discovered that there were few misconceptions and misunderstanding along the line between my daughter and the Hon Commissioner.”

“Having discovered this, I deemed it fit to come to the public and inform Nigerians and the international community that this matter should be allowed to rest.” (Independent)
