Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has strongly criticised former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, over his recent remark expressing hunger, accusing him of craving power rather than food.

The Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has asserted that her suspension from the Senate was not the result of a simple seating dispute but a premeditated effort by Senate President Godswill Akpabio to silence her dissent.
Natasha disclosed this in an interview with Adeola Fayehun on YouTube on May 31, 2025. She noted that she once shared a cordial relationship with Akpabio, partly due to his longstanding friendship with her husband.
However, personal and political conflicts emerged when she resisted the Senate President’s alleged corruption demands.

The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.

Military air strike kills at least 20 civilians in Zamfara (Guardian)
A Nigerian military air strike in the country’s embattled northwest has killed at least 20 civilians, three residents told AFP on Monday.
A group of local vigilantes were struck over the weekend as they were pursuing a criminal gang in Zamfara state, the residents said.

FAAC allocation to states up by over 62% in two years — Presidency (Tribune)
Federal allocations to each of the 36 states have increased by more than 62 percent in the last two years, the Presidency has said.
A document made available to the Nigerian Tribune at the weekend by the authorities explained that the astronomical rise in the allocation freed up resources for states to develop.
The boost in the distributable revenues accruing to the federal purse, according to the Presidency, is made possible by the fiscal and monetary policy of the current federal administration. Read more

Crystal McKinney filed a lawsuit against the film producer in New York’s Manhattan Federal Court on Friday, alleging Weinstein lured her and her friend to his hotel room in 2003, according to documents obtained by People.

Tributes have been paid following news that Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, has died aged 70.
News of his passing was first reported by a local radio station in Barbados called Starcom Network News. An exact cause of death has not been revealed, although it is said to be related to a “brief illness” the 70-year-old had.

Death is apparently not the end in Black Phone 2. In a new trailer for the horror sequel, from filmmaker Scott Derrickson, Ethan Hawke‘s serial killer the Grabber seems to have been resurrected.
In the trailer, The Black Phone star Mason Thames returns as Finney, who is now in high school. Although he survived his abduction by the Grabber thanks to help of ghosts at the other end of a mysterious phone, his nemesis has returned. “You of all people should know that dead is just a word,” the Grabber tells Finney in the clip.
Black Phone 2 stars Hawke, Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora. It was written by C. Robert Cargill and Derrickson (the original was based on a short story by Joe Hill, the son of Stephen King). Derrickson told The Hollywood Reporter that the film switches up the idea of ghosts.
