The Amina Dikwa Foundation (ADF) has stepped up to provide comprehensive support to victims of the recent devastating floods in Borno State. The non-profit organisation, led by Amina Dikwa, has launched a robust recovery initiative addressing both immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation for affected communities.
According to Amina Dikwa, the foundation’s efforts span multiple phases to ensure sustainable recovery. “Our immediate response focused on delivering emergency relief, including clean water, mosquito nets, blankets, clothing and sanitary kits to displaced persons,” she said, highlighting the organisation’s targeted assistance to women, children and girls in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps.
ADF has partnered with other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to provide medical care and psychosocial support while engaging with local authorities to streamline aid delivery. Additionally, the foundation has offered educational support by renovating schools and distributing learning materials. Women in affected areas have also received cash assistance to aid their livelihood recovery.
The foundation’s long-term initiatives aim to build community resilience through infrastructure rehabilitation, the installation of motorised solar boreholes, and the provision of sanitation equipment. ADF is also fostering economic stability by supporting entrepreneurship and job creation.
“We are committed to disaster preparedness and risk reduction through advocacy and training programs,” Dikwa emphasised. Looking ahead to 2025, the foundation plans to deepen its focus on environmental sustainability, monitor the effectiveness of ongoing interventions, and strengthen collaborations with stakeholders.
Founded by Amina Dikwa, ADF is a humanitarian organisation dedicated to empowering communities, promoting education, and addressing critical social challenges in Nigeria. Its extensive support for Borno flood victims underscores its commitment to safeguarding vulnerable populations and fostering sustainable development.
