World 110 metre hurdle record holder, Tobi Amusan, has advised athletes to shun drugs if they hope to become the best in their fields.
Amusan gave the advice while being unveiled as the Globacom Ambassador in Lagos.
According to her, athletes should be wary of the food and water they drink before and during competitions, stating that most athletes fall prey to doping because they are not being careful with their medication while preparing for major events.
“ Very many of the athletes fall prey to doping because they are not observant or innocently being lured to take banned substances either by their coaches or their medics.
“Athletes must be very safe to avoid falling prey to banned drugs that may end their careers. You must know what you put in your body and be careful with your water. You don’t open your water and hurry to get something because the water could be contaminated by a rival.
“Again, your coach should supervise the food and drug administered on you days before competition,” she said.
The world champion said hard work, rather than depend on drugs is the only way to success.
