Angel Gomes has sent his best wishes to everyone he worked with during his ‘beautiful’ 14-year stay at Manchester United and declared that he’s ready to take the ‘next step in his career’ as he prepares to join Lille.
The 19-year-old allowed his deal to run down at Old Trafford and rejected United’s offer of a new £25,000-a-week contract to pursue a fresh challenge elsewhere.
Chelsea were initially frontrunners to sign Gomes and looked set to wrap up an agreement after director Marina Granovskaia held advanced discussions with the young midfielder.
But little progress was made over a potential switch to Stamford Bridge and Ligue 1 outfit Lille are now closing in on a five-year deal for the England Under-20 international. (Metro)
