A woman and her two children have been confirmed dead after a car rammed into them in the Ajamgbadi area of Lagos State.
The accident occurred on Saturday around 8:30 pm at 77 Bus Stop Shibiri Imude Road, Ajamgbadi.
The 29-year-old driver of the ash-coloured Toyota Camry with registration number BDG-55IHG, who is also a mechanic, one Oluwatimilehin Olajide, was said to have fled the scene of the accident after a mob attempted to lynch him, and ran to a nearby police post. Read more
Army takes responsibility for bombing of civilians in Kaduna (Nation)
The Nigerian Army has taken responsibility for the Sunday night bomb attack which led to the killings of dozens of civilians at Tudun Biri village in Igabi local government area of Kaduna state.
The Army said the unfortunate attack was an unintended attack that happened during its routine mission against terrorists on the axis.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the overseeing commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna state, Samuel Aruwan, after the state’s Security Council meeting on Monday, December 4. Read more
Obi faults N15b budgeted for Vice President’s accommodation (Sun)
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25, 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, has criticised some aspect of the 2024 budget saying that the N15 billion for the building of new accommodation for the Vice-President Kashim Shettima when many Nigerians are poor is disheartening.
Obi, in a statement on this Twitter handle @PeterObi on Monday, chided the plan saying its “shocking and disheartening”, considering the many important challenges facing our nation.

3 arraigned for murder, unlawful society membership (Leadership)
Three individuals, Bolu Wasiu, Nwokochi Chinonso, and Akinstutu Olaleye, were brought before the Ikeja High Court on Monday, facing charges of murder and alleged membership in an unlawful society.
The accused, whose residential addresses were not disclosed, have been charged with a two-count bothering on murder and membership in an illegal organisation. Upon arraignment, all three defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Lagos State Prosecutor, Mrs. Uju Nwogazi, informed the court that the defendants were apprehended on December 23, 2021, within the Alapere, Ketu area of Lagos. Read more

Academic activities were on Monday grounded at the University of Calabar, following the students’ protest against the 100 per cent hike in the institution’s tuition fees.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the university had released a new schedule of fees that would take effect in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic sessions.

Awoye community in Ondo State and the Makoko community in Lagos State have raised alarm over government’s neglect in addressing life threatening concerns in their area.While the Awoye community is lamenting over the unending raging fire on Ororo-1 oil facility in the past three and half years, the Makoko community is facing eviction threat from ancestral home.
Awoye community, an Ondo coastal community approximately 145 kilometres from Akure, said they are at the brink of disappearing. The threat they noted is coming from an abandoned offshore Oil Well known as Ororo-1, which has been burning for three-and-half years nonstop.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched 30 anti-corruption clubs in selected secondary schools across Kaduna State.
This was made known in a statement on Monday with the ICPC saying the anti-corruption clubs were inaugurated in a bid to re-position the minds of students and enable them to imbibe the virtues of hard work ethics, good citizenship, honesty and integrity in Kaduna.
In his welcome address, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC), Prince Hassan Mohammed, lauded the courage and great enthusiasm of the secondary schools within the Kaduna metropolis to join the fight against corruption in Nigeria. Read more

The Malian army claimed on Sunday to have repelled four “terrorist” attacks in four localities in the north of the country, including one in the town of Ménaka, surrounded by Islamic State jihadists.
“The Malian Armed Forces (Fama) successively repelled terrorist attacks against four (military) posts in the localities of Labbezagan, Gossi, Tessalit and Ménaka,” said a press release published Sunday evening.
In Ménaka, an important town in the north-east of Mali close to the Nigerien border, “despite a significant concentration of terrorist fighters determined to do battle with our forces, the Fama inflicted a bloody defeat on them with the neutralisation of several dozen terrorists and the arrest of around twenty”, assured the Malian army. Speaking with Oregon Live, Roar reflected on driving out to Las Vegas to audition for the show around a decade ago. “I remember driving there to audition, and I made it through three of the preliminary rounds,” Roar said.

Mount Marapi: 11 hikers killed as volcano erupts in Indonesia (BBC)
Eleven hikers have been found dead near the crater of Indonesia’s Mount Marapi volcano after it erupted over the weekend, rescuers say.
Twelve others are missing and the search was suspended on Monday after another, smaller eruption.
There were 75 hikers in the area during the main eruption on Sunday but most were safely evacuated. Read more

Referee Simon Hooper is not being stood down by the Premier League, despite attracting controversy for a decision late in Manchester City ‘s draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Hooper appeared to play advantage following a foul by a Spurs player late on, only to then blow his whistle and pull playback. His decision to blow up meant City were denied a promising attacking opportunity with Jack Grealish breaking clear, and the game ended all-square.
