Angry mob lynch suspected armed robber in Lagos (Guardian)

A suspected armed robber noted for robbing people of their belongings, especially, handsets met his waterloo at the weekend, when an angry mob descended on him, beating him to death.

The Guardian gathered that on the day of the incident, the suspect identified as Saidu Sinah a.k.a Ojubitin and his gang allegedly attacked commuters with dangerous weapons, including dagger and snatched a few phones from them before some commuters mustered courage and charged towards one of them.

Spokesperson for Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said it happened at about 6:30a.m, on Friday near AP filling station junction in Agege area of the state. (Read more)

Lady conspires with brother to rob boyfriend (Guardian)

Twenty-five-old Emmanuella Ogochukwu who planned and executed a money heist on her boyfriend with the help of her brother and his friend has been arrested alongside her brother.

On February 17, 2025, the case of conspiracy and armed robbery was transferred from Okota police station to the command for discreet investigation after the complainant alleged that Ogochukwu conspired with her brother and his friends to rob him of three iPhones and bitcoins worth about N15 million.

The Lagos State Police Command said that upon the receipt of the casefile and following the confessional statement of Ogochukwu, Ogbuka Tochukwu 22, who is her younger brother was trailed and arrested by the operatives of the Command.

It was said that they both confessed to the crime.

All the complainant’s phones and sum of N6.5million were recovered and have been registered with the exhibit keeper. (Read more)

3 Sales ladies docked over alleged N24.5m theft (Vanguard)

Three sales ladies, Olamide Efuntade, Nofisat Hammed and Aliyat Adio have been arraigned before a Lagos Chief Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Yaba, over alleged conspiracy and stealing of the total sum of N24. 5 million.

The three sales ladies were arraigned by operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, ForceCID, Annex, Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos.

The prosecutor, Morufu Animashaun, from the Legal and Prosecution Department of the Force CID, told the count that the trio committed the offences between year 2024 and March 9, 2025, at 27, Nollah Street, Abaranje Road, Ikotun, Lagos State.

The stolen monies were said to belong to one Mrs. Adenike Adelanwa, whom the three defendants were working for. (Read more)

Police nab scrap collector over demise of colleague in Lagos (Guardian)

Police operatives attached to Oko-Odo in the Abule- Egba area of Lagos have arrested one Musa Zayanu for allegedly stabbing his colleague, Mammud to death with a knife during a heated argument.

The cause of the fight which led to the death could not easily be ascertained but a source at the Bolar site hinted that it may not be unconnected with argument over ownership of some collected iron scraps.

The source added that during the argument which degenerated to fight, the late Mammud overpowered Musa, dealt some deadly blows on him, adding that Musa struggled to free himself from the firm grip of the deceased, dashed into their make-shift tent, picked a knife, chased after Mammud and thrust it in his stomach. 2 Chinese, Nigerian remanded for alleged conspiracy, economic sabotage

The Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday ordered the remand of a Nigerian, 2 Chinese, and their company, in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for allegedly conspiring to destabilise Nigeria’s economic structure.

Justice Daniel Osiagor ordered their remand after they took their plea on 12 counts of cybercrime, preferred against them by the EFCC.

The defendants are Huang Haoyu, Friday Audu, An Hongxu and a company, Gentting International Ltd. The defendants are standing trial before Justice Osiagor on 12 counts of cybercrime. (Punch)
