The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 212 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
In a Twitter update via its verified handle, the government agency, said there are now 61,194 confirmed cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus in Nigeria.
A total number of 52,304 people it added, have so far been discharged from hospital, while the death toll is now 1,119.
The latest figures emanate from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and seven states.
Coronavirus has witnessed a recent surge in many regions around the world with scientists describing it as a second wave. Some countries that had apparent success in suppressing initial outbreaks are also seeing infections rise again.
Confirmed cases have exceeded 38 million with more than one million people dead from the virus.
According to the Johns Hopkins University, 38,857,489 infections have been confirmed worldwide, while 1,098,303 have so far died from the virus. Over 402,961 new infections were recorded late on Monday alone worldwide, with 5,906 deaths.
Meanwhile, cases and hospital admissions are now rising fast again in many European countries.
Germany, Italy, Portugal and the UK have all recently recorded their highest number of infections since the start of the pandemic.
