Barely four weeks that a five storey-building hotel collapsed in Bodija Area of Ibadan, another three storey-building has collapsed again in same area on Sunday night.
The affected three-storey building according to an eye witness collapsed on Sunday midnight around Adabor Junction, Ashi, Bodija, Ibadan.
This is coming few weeks after the collapse of an uncompleted five-storey hotel building adjacent to one of the new generation banks at Awosika in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The building, according some residents housed a pharmacy, supermarket and a church.
The residents in the area said no live was lost as security guard in the building, who was the only one on ground when the incident occurred was said to have been save and healthy.
One of the residents, Sade Aderibigbe said, “We suddenly heard a loud shaking noise in the midnight, we were scared because we think it was armed robbers.”
“We rushed out to the scene, on getting there, we see that the building have sink and collapsed.”
Another resident, Tunde Abulesowo said the land on which the building was built was been used as a cementary before it was sold to the developer.
“When the land was sold, all the corpses in the cementry were exhumed before the building was erected, the building was built during former governor Akala administration.”
“The building has been giving a sign of cracking before it later came down, millions of good and properties has been trapped in the rubbles.”
“We are making efforts to savage the goods and make sure hoodlums doesn’t have access to it so that they won’t carted it away, we have called the Police and NEMA, no live was lost and nobody was injured.” He said.
As at the time of filling this reports nobody was injured, or killed during the collapse, but goods worth millions of naira were destroyed. (Independent)
