Andy Ruiz Jr. will step in as a replacement to fight Anthony Joshua at Madison Square Garden, it has been confirmed.
The Mexican heavyweight, 29, replaces Jarrell Miller after the American tested positive for three different banned substances and was hit with a six-month suspension.
Joshua was chasing a showdown with Luis Ortiz, but the Cuban turned down Eddie Hearn’s offer to fight the three-belt world champion.
With the fight now just four weeks away, Joshua and his promoter Hearn will be relieved to finally find an opponent who would step in on short notice after talks with a host of fighters. Read more
