Barring any last minute changes, a leadership meeting of the All Progressives Congress will hold next week to determine the fate of the embattled National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, Saturday PUNCH has learnt. A prominent member of the party, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, confided in one of our correspondents, in Abuja, on Friday that as a precursor to this meeting, the party’s National Leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, and Oshiomhole, met in Paris, France, on Thursday. Edo State Governor, Mr. Gowin Obaseki, yesterday claimed that his administration in the last two years, has so far created 77, 200 jobs out of the 200,000 jobs he promised during his electioneering campaign. Obaseki made the claim while addressing a Youth Summit with the theme: ‘Pathway to Prosperity’, as part of events marking his second years of office. California wildfires: 250,000 flee monster flames ravaging state (BBC)
At least nine people have died in the most destructive wildfires ripping through north and south California. More than 250,000 people have been forced to flee their homes to avoid three major blazes in the state. Triple car bombings in Mogadishu kill at least 18 people, police say (CNN)
A series of car bombings killed at least 18 people and injured 45 in the Somali capital of Mogadishu on Friday, Police Capt . Daahir Kulane said. Two car bombs were detonated between the Sahafi Hotel and another one detonated behind the hotel, police told CNN. Col. Qasim Ahmed Roble, Somali police spokesman, told reporters five attackers attempted to storm the hotel but were shot and killed by police. Read more

Jamal Khashoggi murder: Turkey ‘shared Khashoggi tapes’ with Saudi, US (BBC)
Turkey says it has shared recordings related to the murder of the journalist and writer Jamal Khashoggi with the US, the UK, Saudi Arabia and others. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan repeated his assertion that Saudi Arabia knew who had killed Khashoggi. Khashoggi, a critic of Saudi rulers, was killed inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 2 October. Saudi Arabia has admitted he was murdered there, but denied suggestions its royal family was involved. It had initially maintained the writer had left the consulate unharmed. Read more

Man sent letter bomb to Bitcoin firm ‘over password reset’ (BBC)
A man has been jailed for sending a “potentially lethal homemade bomb” to a Bitcoin firm in London – after it refused to reset his password for him. The Met Police, which investigated the case, said detectives could “only identify one possible reason” for the Swedish national’s actions. He had emailed the company, Cryptopay, in August 2017, to ask that he be sent a new password. Cryptopay, however, refused, saying this contravened its privacy policy. Read more

Baby among four dead after being hit by car chased by police (Metro)
A one-year-old baby is among four people dead after a car being chased by police crashed into their vehicle on Friday. Two men aged 35 and 50 and a 41-year-old woman were also killed when their VW Touran was struck by a black VW Golf at 8.50pm.
