Army staged coup against Rivers during polls — Wike (Punch)

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State said on Monday that the Nigerian Army staged a coup against the state during the 2019 elections.

Wike also described the actions of the Army as the worst in the nation’s democratic history.

The governor said this while addressing the Joint House of Representatives’ committees on Army, Police, Human Rights and Justice at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

Wike said the troops of the Nigerian Army acted illegally because they were working to impose a pre-determined leadership on the state. Read more
