For close to a year now, apprehension has greeted the tankers and trailers that made Ikorodu Road in Lagos State a parking spot, precisely between the Anthony section of the dual carriageway all the way to Ojuelegba and beyond.
Not only did the said juggernauts constitute an obstruction that has made free passage impossible for motorists and commuters who spend up to two or more hours on the road, the drivers were reportedly becoming a menace to the residents along the stretch of the road.
So it was a surprise when it emerged on Friday, a day before President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was to visit for a presidential rally, that the road was free of the tankers and of the usual annoying traffic.
Lagosians have been wondering what miracle made such a vanishing act possible in such a small space of time when the government could have eased their pains all along.
Thisislagos went to town and it took our crew a matter of four minutes to get from Anthony to Ojuelegba on Friday afternoon. This would have been impossible only a few days ago and on such a post rain day like this one that makes almost all roads in Lagos difficult to navigate.
But do not take our word for it as we have a video to show for it – as a matter of fact, two videos, one long before the President’s impending visit and the one taken on Friday.
