Automobile painter sleeping inside oven dies in Lagos (Punch)
An automobile painter, Opeyemi Oguntunbo, has died while sleeping in a car parked inside an oven belonging to JD Auto Workshop, General Paints bus stop, Lekki-Epe Expressway in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Oguntunbo and his fellow technicians, including the supervisor, Wasiu Adesina, a co-painter identified simply as Peter, and some yet-to-be-identified persons, were about to go home after closing for the day but they encountered gridlock on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The gridlock was said to have discouraged them from continuing with their journey and they decided to sleep in the workshop till the next day. Read more
Court remands ex-banker, wife for N377m money laundering (NewTelegraph)
An Ikeja Special Offences Court, Lagos yesterday remanded an exbanker, Rowley Isioro and his wife, Mrs. Ovuomarhoni Naomi Isioro, over allegations of laundering the sum of N377 million.
The couple were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on a seven count charge bordering on conspiracy, receiving fraudulently obtained property, transfer of criminal proceed to nominee and money laundering to the tune $975,424.
The duo, who pleaded not guilty, were docked alongside their companies, Multaid Plus Limited and Global Investment Network. The EFCC prosecutor, Mohammed K. Bashir said that the defendants allegedly received monies from illegal activities carried out by one Michael Uziewe (at large), a Nigerian who is based in the United States of America, with the aim of assisting him bring the proceeds into Nigeria. The Iru-Victoria Island Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, on Tuesday, urged people of the area to police their environment to nip latent dangers in the bud.
Dr Samuel Akingbehin, Head of Department of Environmental Services in the council area, said this while reacting to the evacuation of a lion from a residential building on 229, Muri Okunola Street, Victoria Island.
He told Newsmen in Lagos that rearing wild animal in homes contravened the Wild Animal Laws of Nigeria, 1975. Read more
FG gives new apartment to FAAN staff who returned $12,200 passenger’s money (Independent)
The Federal Government has given Mrs. Josephine Ugwu, the staff of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), who in 2015 returned $12,200 belonging to a passenger at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos a new apartment and other an award.
The house, and the award were given to her in Abuja yesterday at an event organised by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The event by ICPC event was a two-day summit on ‘Diminishing Corruption in the Public Sector’ and organised in conjunction with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. Read more
Police parade Enugu pastor for rape, money rituals (Punch)
The Enugu State Police Command, on Tuesday, paraded the founder of the Christ Mercy Ministry, Ajuona Obukpa, in Nsukka Local Government Area of the state, Pastor Sunday Egbo, for alleged rape and involvement in money rituals.
Parading Egbo alongside 36 other suspects at the command headquarters, the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Abdur-rahman, said the pastor had on November 9, 2019, invited a female member of his church under the pretext of organising a crusade starting from 6pm.
According to the CP, the suspect asked the victim to come along with the picture of her sick brother for prayers. Read more
Merchants dump PoS, inactive terminals hit 131,201 (Punch)
Some retailers using Point of Sales terminals to receive payments have abandoned the device and reverted to cash payments, investigation has shown.
Some of them who spoke with our correspondent said the decision to dump the PoS devices meant to facilitate cashless transactions was because customers declined using the terminals to avoid paying N50 stamp duty charge.
The Central Bank of Nigeria, in a circular to banks, processors and switches on September 17 had authorised banks to unbundle merchant settlement amounts and charge applicable taxes and duties on individual taxes and duties on individual transactions. Read more

Kanye West, 42, and legendary producer Dr. Dre, 54, took to Twitter Monday to post nearly identical messages announcing a second installment of West’s “Jesus Is King” album. The first installment of the long-delayed gospel album dropped in late October to mixed reviews.

Pregnant woman killed by dogs in France during hunt in the area (BBC)
A pregnant woman was killed by dogs in forest land in northern France while a hunt with hounds was happening in the area, investigators have said.
The body of the 29-year-old, who was walking her own dogs, was discovered near the town of Villers-Cotterêts.
She died after “several dog bites to the upper and lower limbs and the head,” prosecutor Frederic Trinh said.
Tests on 93 dogs were being carried out in an attempt to establish which of the dogs were responsible for the attack. Read more
Couple sentenced to prison for disposing their 2-year-old in tub of acid (NYPost)
A Texas couple was sentenced to more than a decade in jail Wednesday for disposing the remains of their drowned 2-year-old in a vat of acid, a report said.
Monica Dominguez, 38, received 20 years for endangering a child and abuse of a corpse for the February crime, the Laredo Morning Times reported.
She’ll also serve a 10-year sentence for violating her parole, according to the report.
Gerardo Zavala-Loredo, 33 — her husband and the father of the 2-year-old — pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence of a human corpse and was sentenced to 14 years, the Morning Times reported. Read more

The Spanish media have reacted with anger after Gareth Bale was pictured holding a flag with the words “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order.”
Bale helped his country qualify for Euro 2020 after Wales beat Hungary 2-0 to secure their passage through to next summer’s tournament.
