Bandits have abducted Mr. Ayuba Dodo Dakolo, the village head of Rijana, in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Daily Trust gathered that the village head was abducted alongside other farmers at Kurmi, near Chikwale in the same LGA.

Our correspondent reports that Rijana, a community along the busy Abuja-Kaduna highway has gained notoriety for frequent attacks by bandits who usually block the highway to abduct travellers.

However, sources from Rijana on Thursday told Daily Trust that the bandits have reached out to community leaders in Rijana with two lists.

Our correspondent gathered that some of the items on the lists include gallons of petrol and engine oil as well as cigarettes.

โ€œWe have spoken with the village head and he is fine. However, the bandits have also asked us to provide them with recharge cards and threatened to kill him if we donโ€™t,โ€ said a member of the community. Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Mohammed Jalige, did not respond to calls on the abduction of the village head but a senior police officer told Daily Trust that security agents had been notified of the development.
