Bobrisky didn’t sleep outside prison, served jail term – FG panel (Punch)
An investigative panel set up by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has stated that a popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, completed his jail term.
PUNCH Online reports that Bobriksy was sentenced to six months imprisonment on April 12 for abusing the naira and released from prison in August.
Controversial social critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, had shared a voice note allegedly belonging to Bobrisky that she paid N15m to some Economic and Financial Crimes Commission officials to drop the money laundering charge against him. Read more
Father flees after ‘‘brutalising’’ own children (DailyTrust)
The police in Lagos have commenced a manhunt for a 48-year old man, Kadiri Yusuf alias Alado, for allegedly brutalising two of his children in the Orile Agege area of Lagos.
The suspect is alleged to have inflicted grievous bodily injuries on his two children, aged 11 and 13 years.
City and Crime gathered that the incident was reported at the station by the teacher of one of the children. Read more
Expert warns against makeshift CNG kits’ installation (Tribune)
Under no circumstances should anyone be allowed to install makeshift Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) kits or a welded tank on any vehicles, an industry expert, Olugbenga Awe, has said.
The advice, he said has become imperative following last week explosion of a CNG vehicle during refuelling at a NIPCO Filling Station in Benin-City, Edo State capital.
He noted that there have been concerns about the safety of CNG systems, including potential leaks or explosion risks due to misuse of makeshift CNG kits and tanks. Read more

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu has resumed official duties at the Presidential Villa in Abuja following his arrival to the country after his two-week leave.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga made this known on Monday via his official X handle.

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has urged the Chief Justice of the Federation (CJN), Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, to end judicial rascality in the country.
In his letter to the CJN, the retired Commodore said the Judiciary should take its rightful position, reminiscent of the period from 1950s to 1980s.

Police vow to arrest perpetrators of cult-related killings in Anambra (Channels)
The Anambra State Police Command said it remains committed to the ongoing investigation to arrest the perpetrators of the cult-related killings in Nibo, Anambra State on Sunday.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga on Monday, said the command also frowns at the act of some deceased relatives to bury evidence, suppress information and disrupt the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Itam on Monday, led a team of police operatives to the scene on a spot assessment and stated that the command had redoubled its efforts to leave no stone unturned in hunting down the assailants. Read more
Civil War: You supervised Igbo massacre, IPOB replies Gowon (Vanguard)
The founders of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have responded to the leader of a former Military junta of the Nigeria government, General Yakubu Gowon, who supervised the country’s civil war, telling him that he (Gowon) was the originator and cause of the unrest that claimed the lives of over three million Biafrans.
Gowon in his 90th birthday interview blamed the southeast for an attempt to secede from Nigeria, which he (Gowon) said brought about his supervised massacre of over three million Eastern Nigeria people between 1967 and 1970.
Responding to Gowon’s interview, the founder and vision bearer of the original IPOB, Emeka Emekesiri said, “I have always said that if there’s no secession, there wouldn’t be a breakout and there wouldn’t be a question of civil war because it got to the stage that the situation was getting pretty clear that a part of the country, the South-east wanted to secede. Police bust suspected IPOB/ ESN Camp (Sun)
Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Imo State Police command has dislodged a suspected Indigenous People Of Biafra and Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) camp in Nempi, Oru West Local Government Area of the State.
This is just as the Imo State police operatives also arrested 29 suspects: 25 males and four females allegedly linked to the proscribed group as well as various arms and ammunition.
The busting of the camp of the suspected members of the proscribed IPOB/ ESN on saturday was sequel to the earlier arrest one Anukuru Nnanna Emmanuel,25 ,a suspected member of the group on September 15 ,2024, at Mgbidi community in Oru west council of Imo state. Read more

Five new civil lawsuits, obtained by Sky News’s US partner NBC News, were filed on Sunday in the Southern District of New York by Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee.

John Stapleton has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
The broadcaster, 78, who is known for presenting programmes including Newsnight, Panorama and GMTV’s News Hour, made the announcement on BBC One’s Morning Live.
Parkinson’s is a brain disorder that causes unintended or uncontrollable movements, such as shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination. Often, the disease can become more severe over time. Read more

The New York Liberty have clinched their first WNBA championship in franchise history!
Led by Jonquel Jones, Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart, the Liberty defeated the Minnesota Lynx 67-62 in overtime during Game 5 of the championships — which was played on the Liberty’s home turf, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
It was a victory that was 28 years in the making. The Liberty have made five prior appearances in the WNBA finals, but have come up short of the title each year: 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2023. Read more
