The family of a 14-year-old boy, Mubarak Sanyaolu, who was allegedly killed by a stray bullet on November 4, 2021, at the Command bus stop in the Meiran area of Lagos State, has raised the alarm over the mysterious disappearance of the deceasedโs corpse at the Lagos Mainland Hospital mortuary.
PUNCH Metro reported that Mubarak, an apprentice and secondary school student, was hit by a bullet allegedly shot by a police officer attached to the Meiran Police Command while returning from his workshop. He died instantly after the bullet ripped open his stomach.
The incident happened while the officers were said to be dispersing tricycle riders who were protesting the alleged killing of their colleague by the police over an N100 bribe.
The police had since the incident deposited the corpse in the mortuary for an investigation. The family thereafter accused the police of not being forthcoming in the investigation.
Olamilekan, however, lamented during a chat with our correspondent on Wednesday that the facility could not provide the corpse of his son upon request to retrieve it for burial. (Punch)
