The District Head of Duhu and surrounding communities in Adamawa State, Mohammed Sanusi, said there were enough signs that the insurgents who attacked the neighbouring Michika on Monday night were after foodstuffs, cash and drugs.
Residents said the insurgents attacked the town from Kofar Borno and Kofar Adamawa, shooting sporadically with people fleeing into the bush.
Many of the residents told our correspondents that they slept in the bush while seven people were killed, although police said five civilians and 11 Boko Haram fighters lost their lives in the attack.
In an interview with our correspondents on Wednesday, the district head, Sanusi, said the Boko Haram fighters looted petrol stations, drug stores and food stores, adding that they left behind three vans containing foodstuffs and stolen items when the military repelled the attack. Read more
