Brexit deal is ‘difficult but still possible’ Michel Barnier says (Metro)

The EU’s chief negotiator has said a Brexit deal ‘is still possible’ with just days before Boris Johnson could be forced to delay.

Michel Barnier gave the prime minister a glimmer of hope this morning as he races against the clock to secure a fresh agreement with both the EU and MPs in Westminster.

The PM is still adamant he will bring the UK out of the EU on 31 October – but faces having to ask Brussels for a delay if he can’t get a deal sorted by the end of this week. Ahead of the crucial EU summit, which begins on Thursday, Finnish prime minister Antti Rinne warned Mr Johnson ‘more time’ is needed. Read more
