Buhari stops Adeleke’s invitation by police on 2017 exams fraud (Punch)
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday stopped the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, from inviting the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the governorship election slated for Saturday in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke. The police had earlier invited Adeleke to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for the purpose of arraigning him on charges of examination malpractices, criminal conspiracy, impersonation, breach of duty and aiding and abetting. A presidential source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to speak on the matter, told some State House correspondents that the President had directed that Adeleke should not be invited until after Saturday’s election. Train kills police inspector, motorcyclist in Lagos (Punch)
A police inspector, Philip Kolo, who was attached to the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit Strike Team, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and a yet-to-be identified commercial motorcycle rider, lost their lives on Wednesday in a train crash around PWD bus stop, Ikeja, Lagos State. PUNCH Metro gathered that Kolo was on his way to Ikeja on the motorcycle around 10.30am when the incident happened. The rider had reportedly attempted to beat the oncoming train and cross the rail track when they were trapped and crushed to death. Read more

The Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria, popularly known as Public Private Participation, says Lagos State has now become one of the dirtiest cities in the world. The Vice-Chairman of AWAM, Mr David Oriyomi, who made the assertion on Tuesday in Lagos while speaking with newsmen, said the city had become dirty due to deliberate attempts to relieve the waste managers of their job. Herbalist, two others remove sergeant’s eyes for charm (Punch)
An 80-year-old herbalist, Ussaini Musa, and two others have been arrested by men of the Katsina State Police Command for allegedly plucking out the eyes of a police sergeant in Jos, Plateau State, as part of items to make an invisible jacket. The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammadu Wakili, during a press conference on Wednesday identified the other suspects as Abubakar Sani, 35 and Abubakar Muhammed, 28. Robbers break into canteen, cart away pots of soup (Guardian)
It sounded like a fairytale but on Tuesday morning at Adejonwo close, off Jonathan Coker road, Fagba area of Lagos State, the reality of the hard times became real when some persons before dawn broke into a canteen, Testimony Kitchen, and carted away coolers of soup, meat rice and beans. The owner of the canteen had prepared the soup and some food overnight for early callers the following day. To her shock, she resumed on Tuesday morning and discovered her shop was burgled. She was so downcast and disoriented. Her customers, many who came to get food for their kids set for school, were also astonished. Read more

Government worries about 80% shortfall in local OEMs expansion capacity (Guardian)
The Federal Government through the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is worried about the slow expansion capacity of indigenous Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the country. NITDA, which informed that Nigeria currently has seven local OEMs, said these manufacturers, can only meet about 20 per cent of the local demand for computer hardware in the country.
