The Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development (MPP&UD), Mr Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins, has challenged Mr Oluwole Sotire, the ministry’s new Permanent Secretary, to build on legacies of his predecessor.
Bamgbose-Martins, according to a statement by the spokesman of the ministry, Mr Mukaila Sanusi, on Tuesday, gave the charge while welcoming the new Permanent Secretary.
The management of the ministry welcomed Sotire, who is an engineer, to their fold on Monday.
Bamgbose-Martins urged Sotire to build on the good work of Engr. Abiola Kosegbe, who has been redeployed to the Local Government Service Commission as Permanent Secretary.
He congratulated Sotire on his deployment to the ministry, saying that he had known him to be thorough, hardworking and professional in his dealings.
The commissioner urged Sotire to call up those good qualities in meeting the high expectations of the very demanding ministry.
Bamgbose-Martins called on members of staff to give their unalloyed support to the newly deployed Permanent Secretary and wished him a successful tenure.
The commissioner expressed confidence that Sotire would form formidable partnership with the rest of the management in actualising the mandate of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as enshrined in the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda.
The Special Adviser, e-GIS and Planning Matters, Dr Olajide Babatunde, recalled initiatives of the ministry spearheaded by the former Permanent Secretary, Mrs Abiola Kosegbe, which must be sustained.
He listed them to include the MPP&UD moblie App, the Green Building, Urban Development Policy and the Domestication of the National Building Code in Lagos State.
Responding, Sotire, who viewed his posting as another call to duty, sought support of all to take the ministry to the next level; promising to be fair and open in his dealings.
He urged all members of staff to eschew lazy tendencies and brace up for more challenging experience.
Also in attendance were the outgoing Permanent Secretary redeployed to the Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Abiola Kosegbe and General Manager, Lagos State Building Control Agency, Mr Gbolahan Oki.
Others include the General Manager (GM), Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency, Ms Ajibike Shomade; GM, Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, Mr Kehinde Osinaike, and GM, Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Agency, Mr Daisi Oso. (NAN)
