Music star, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has bagged two awards at the 2022 edition of the MOBO Awards.
The event, which is held annually to recognise and award Music of Black Origins, celebrated its 25th year anniversary on Thursday at the OVO Arena in Wembley, London.
Hosted by UK media personalities, Chunks and Yung Filly, the event saw performances by Nigeria’s Fireboy DML, London girl-band, FLO, and British-born Ghanaian, Kojey Radical.
Ogulu carted home the awards for the Best International Act, beating global music heavyweights such as Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar. Jack Harlow, Skillibeng, Summer Walker, Jasmine Suleiman and Tems were also nominated in the category.
He also won at the Best African Music Act Category, which was notably dominated by Nigerian artistes.Adekunle Gold, Asake, Fireboy DML, Omah Lay, Oxlade, Pheelz, Rema, Tems, as well as South Africa’s Kabza De Small were nominated in the category. (Punch)
