Divergent views trail new Oshodi bus terminals (Tribune)
OSHODI, the headquarters of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, no doubt records a huge traffic daily on account that it is a transportation hub, where mostly residents in Lagos have to get to before they can transit to other places within and outside the state. No doubt a badly congested area for those doing businesses there, as well as for those who ply the route, who usually have one sad tale or another of their experiences at the hands of miscreants that have since turned Oshodi to their permanent abode. It is also a place where supposed “landlords” collect daily rents from those that live and sleep under the popular Oshodi Bridge therefore he need to upgrade Oshodi to the landscape like it is found in most of the developed world, informed the state government’s decision to erect an ultra-modern Oshodi bus terminal in the area. Ambode revs up graduate employability (Punch)
About three months ago, a director level officer of the Ministry of Wealth Creation, called one of my partners, Gbola Oba, to enquire if we could train and mentor young unemployed graduates, who’re interested in acquiring some automotive mechatronics maintenance/repair skills for them. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State innovatively created the ministry on assumption of office to combat youth unemployment and spur skills-precipitated self-enterprise. Ever so sceptical about such enquiries emanating from any MDA, Gbola said he asked the lady, after basic introductions, how they got to know about us because we didn’t apply for any training job in her department. According to him, the lady said they’d researched the names of respected training providers in the five industries they’d earmarked for the scheme. Read more

Some children of late Lagos preacher, Pa Immanuel Olufunmilayo Odumosu, popularly known as ‘Jesu Oyingbo’, led by his daughter, Princess Adeyinka Immanuel Odumosu have begun the demolition of some parts of his estate situated at Maryland, Lagos. The estate, which is the subject of unending legal tussle among his 153 children, according to Odumosu, had to be demolished because some parts of it were gutted by fire in 2009. “It is not that we intend to demolish the entire estate. Some parts of the estate got burnt in 2009. The matter was then in court, we couldn’t do anything. So we left it like that for almost eight years. Hoodlums took over the entire place; over 2,000 of them. We had cultists and fraudsters living in here. Some government authorities warned us that if it collapses and people die, the government will take over the whole place,” she explained. Read more

Ambode, LASU and adopted best graduate (Guardian)
Thank God, Akinwumi Ambode, Governor of Lagos state is not one of the wonderful governors in Western Nigeria who keep establishing more universities without consideration for quality and history of the region. Instead of announcing a brand new university the other day (as some of his colleagues would have done) at the convocation of the Lagos State University, the Governor instantly granted scholarship and N5million cash reward to the 2017/2018 overall best graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), Ogunsanya Fuhad Adetoro. I am persuaded that the Governor should be encouraged to invest robustly in the 35 years old university (LASU) instead of personal scholarships to gifted graduates who are being encouraged to study abroad. I’m a sexual outlaw –Denrele (NewTelegraph)
For someone who has carved a niche for himself fashion wise, one would expect that you would have started your own fashion line by now but you are yet to. Why?
I have always had that mindset that the sort of eccentric, off the curve and overboard spunky kind of clothes that I wear, Nigerians might not patronise. Maybe the rest of Africa might, but I really don’t want to just make clothes for myself or circle of friends. You know what they say, anybody can buy fashion but style, you have to own. My own style is an embodiment of myself and now that you have mentioned it Zdon, I’ll take it as my clarion call and do something that is not too reflective of my sense of style so you can be comfortable wearing it.
