Celebrities react to BRT passenger’s murder -Opeyemi Ajao

Reactions have continued to trail the murder of Oluwabamise Ayanwale, who boarded a Bus Rapid Transport on the 26th of February, 2022.

Oluwabamise boarded the state-owned transport service at Chevron Bus Stop, Lekki, en route Oshodi around 7 pm but never got to her destination.

But the whereabouts of Bamise was finally unraveled by residents around Ebute Ero in Lagos Island, who disclosed she was tossed out of a BRT bus half-naked with her private parts missing. Her death has sparked shocking and angry reactions from  social media users and celebrities who have demanded justice for the late fashion designer. Among those who called for justice were Singer, Korede Bello, reality star, Wathoni and skit maker, Mr Macaroni.

For Korede, who is an Ambassador for the Nigerian Police, he said  “I will never understand how people can look so normal and yet be so evil! Are we ever really safe?

“I pray Bamise’s family gets justice for their daughter. This is overwhelming heartbreaking.”

Wathoni prayed for the apprehension of the murderers “Bamise. May whoever is responsible for this pay,” she wrote

For Mr Macaroni, he said Bamise’s story was very heartbreaking. “It is even more worrisome that we don’t know how many people have suffered the same fate as her. For all we know there could be more to suffer the same fate and that is because it is hard to get justice in our society,” the actor, skit maker and activist said.

On Monday, the 7th of March, the driver of the said BRT bus was arrested by the Department of State Service and was handed over to the Lagos State Police Command.

On that day, the tweet #JusticeforBamise has been trending as people have called for the arrest and prosecution of the killers of the late fashion designer.
