A tribute event marking the 10th anniversary of the abduction of the Chibok girls is set to bring together survivors and their families.
The event, slated for 4 pm on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, at the Nordic Hotel, 258 Kofo Abayomi St, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, will feature a screening of “Statues Also Breathe,” which delves into the harrowing experiences of the Chibok girls and their enduring impact on Nigerian society.
Organised by the S.A.B Art Foundation and the Chibok Parents Association, the gathering aims to shed light on the ongoing plight of the abducted girls, of whom many remain missing to this day.
The film screening will be followed by a heartfelt discussion with members of the Chibok community, including survivors and mothers of the missing girls.
“Statues Also Breathe” serves as a poignant reminder of the 276 girls who were taken from their school in Chibok, sparking international outcry and a global movement for their safe return. Despite the passage of a decade, the event underscores the importance of keeping their stories alive and ensuring continued efforts to secure their freedom.
