The China General Chamber of Commerce in Nigeria has reacted to the allegations that the Chinese supermarket within the premises of the Royal Choice Estate, Airport Road, Abuja, barred Nigerians from entering.
A video hit social media on Sunday revealing that the Chinese supermarket officials denied access to Nigerians seeking to purchase groceries, generating a public outrage.
Reacting to the incident, in an official statement on Monday, the Chamber explained that the Royal Choice Estate is not a supermarket as widely reported, but rather comprises an office complex and residential apartments. Read more
Alleged theft at Dangote refinery: Nigerian Army dismisses 2 soldiers (Tribune)
The Nigerian Army High Command on Monday announced the dismissal of two soldiers over the alleged theft of armoured cables at the Dangote Refinery premises in Lagos on 14th April this year.
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu.

Bobrisky files notice of appeal, challenges conviction over naira abuse (Nation)
Controversial cross-dresser and socialite, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has filed a notice of appeal challenging his conviction on a four-count charge of Naira abuse. The Nation reports Okuneye was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on four counts bordering on naira abuse.
He pleaded guilty before Justice A.O. Awogboro of the Federal High Court, Lagos.
Justice Awogboro, on 12 April, sentenced Okuneye to six months imprisonment without an option of fine. Read more
Tinubu jets to Netherlands, Saudi Arabia Tuesday (Channels)
President Bola Tinubu will on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 depart Abuja for the Kingdom of the Netherlands on an official visit.
The President will also attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting scheduled for April 28-29 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Federal Government said, yesterday, that it was considering a review of entry age into tertiary institutions in the country, hinting that it might peg it at 18 years,
The government said it had observed that parents were pushing their children and wards who were not matured, mentally and physically, to the university environment.
Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, told journalists after monitoring the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), in Abuja, that the policy on entry age into tertiary institutions will be reviewed as soon as possible. Read more

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission(FCCPC) on Monday stormed the Chinese Supermarket in Abuja, where there have been allegations that Nigerians are not allowed to patronise or enter it.
It would be recalled that last Sunday, Nigerians had expressed outrage over a discriminatory policy implemented by the Chinese Supermarket which restricted entry exclusively to its citizens and barred Nigerians.

No fewer than 500 legal practitioners from across the country, Monday, stormed the Supreme Court in condemnation of what they called the illegal approach of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) in handling its allegations against former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
The lawyers, under the umbrella of judicial watchdogs, faulted the siege on the ex-Gov’s residence, in a bid to arrest him, despite a valid court order to the contrary, which had not been vacated.
The lawyers also submitted a petition to the National Judicial Council and the President, calling their attention to the situation, which they said, must not be overlooked. Read more

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday, administered the oath of allegiance and judicial oath on the newly-appointed President, Oyo State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Tajudeen Abdulganiyu, at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Agodi in Ibadan, the state capital.

Assistant District Attorney Matthew Colangelo on Monday laid out the allegations against Trump, who is accused of falsifying business records to conceal payments made to an adult film star with whom he is accused of having a sexual relationship. Prosecutors allege that the money was intended to silence the adult entertainer, Stormy Daniels, before the 2016 US presidential election.
