Chinese scientists create super-intelligent monkeys by injecting human DNA into their brains (Metro)

Chinese scientists have created a strain of super-intelligent monkeys by implanting human DNA into their brains.

Researchers took a gene called MCPH1, which is believed to play a role in the development of the human brain, and inserted it into 11 rhesus monkeys.

The monkeys’ brains started to behave a bit like our own species’, taking longer to develop and helping them perform better in tests of short-term memory as well as reaction time when compared to wild monkeys.

However, the gene did not make the monkeys’ brains any bigger. Read more
