Members of the public lined the streets in Phoenix today to pay their respects to the late John McCain. McCain, who represented Arizona for six terms in the Senate, died on Saturday after a year-long fight with brain cancer. On McCain’s website, which details his funeral plans, his wife Cindy has requested that any flowers be sent to VA hospitals in honor of her late husband.

โ€œSen. McCainโ€™s family once again showed the sense of selfless service that has been their hallmark for over a century,โ€ Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert Wilkie said in a statement to People regarding the gesture. โ€œHe and his family are in the hearts and prayers of all of Americaโ€™s warriors.
