Cleaner arraigned for stealing N3.2m goods from employer (Punch)
A 33-year-old cleaner, Charles Sunday, was arraigned on Tuesday before the Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing a gold chain and other items valued at N3.250,000 from his employer.
Sunday, who resides at No. 15, Orchid Road, Eleganza, Lekki, is facing a charge of stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged crime while employed as a cleaner for the complainant, Mr Temitope Aremu.
Lagos court jails man 21 years for manslaughter (Punch)
A Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, on Tuesday, sentenced a man, Adeola Agbonrin, to 21 years imprisonment for manslaughter.
Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo sentenced Agbonrin after he pleaded guilty to a count charge brought against him by the Lagos State Government.
The convict was originally charged with the murder of Matha Farinmade, later Agbonrin applied for a plea bargain agreement, leading to the reduction of the charge to manslaughter. Read more
Lagos mechanic attempting to steal motor parts escapes lynching (Punch)
A yet-to-be-identified mechanic had a narrow escape from a mob attack on Monday after he was caught attempting to steal vehicle spare parts at the Jemi Alade Estate, along the Isheri-Igando area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that a resident confronted the suspect after he was seen leaning on one of the vehicles in the estate around 9 am.

A 14-year-old girl was on Monday alleged to have been raped by her landlord’s son in the Alakuko area of Lagos.
The incident was brought to light by an X.com user @Rhwaley, who shared videos of the victim after the alleged crime had happened.

Wife may bag jail term for tearing husband’s passport at Lagos airport – NIS (Punch)
A Nigerian woman named Favour Igiebor, who tore up her husband’s passport at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, could face a jail term as punishment for her actions if found guilty, according to the Nigeria Immigration Service Act of 2015 (as amended).
The NIS had on Monday revealed that it had launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the destruction of a man’s passport by his wife, identified as Favour Igiebor, stating that she had been summoned for questioning.
In a statement, the spokesperson for the NIS, Kenneth Udo, described Igiebor’s action as a violation of Nigerian law. Read more
Prophetess, teacher arraigned for fake charm, N8m theft (Punch)
A prophetess, Folake Olasode, 35, and a schoolteacher, Damilola Aboloyinijo, 31, were on Monday arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Tinubu for allegedly preparing a fake charm of protection and obtaining N8m from their victim.
The duo are facing five counts of conspiracy, stealing, obtaining, unlawful assault, and breach of public peace, preferred against them by the police.

Three men, identified as Wasiu Okanlawon 36, Kehinde Kareem 34, and Hammed Olatunji 42, were on Monday arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate Court in Ebute-Metta on charges related to alleged cult activities in Mushin.
The trio, alleged members of the notorious Aiye Confraternity, are facing four counts, bordering on conspiracy, grievous harm, causing public panic, and belonging to an unlawful society.

Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps have uncovered a warehouse of banned styrofoam in the Idumota area of the state.

Woman arraigned for ticket forgery, $2,500 fraud (Punch)
A 41-year-old woman, Adenike Salami, was arraigned on Friday before the Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court in Lagos State on charges of forging an airline ticket and fraudulently obtaining $2,500.
Salami, who appeared before Magistrate Waliu Salami, is facing three counts of conspiracy, fraud, and forgery, brought against her by the police.

Court extends Lagos drug baron, Temo’s remand (Punch)
The Federal High Court in Lagos has further remanded the alleged drug lord, Sulaimon Jimoh, also known as “Olowo Idi Ogede” or “Temo,” for an additional 14 days in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
Justice Akintayo Aluko extended Temo’s remand while granting an ex parte motion filed by the NDLEA.

Some staff members of the global electronics maker, LG Electronics, at Abule Osun, Trade Fair, Lagos State were apprehended for allegedly stealing some foreign currencies belonging to their employers after a fire engulfed the store in the early hours of Sunday.
Goods worth billions of naira were destroyed in the incident that started some minutes past midnight.

A driver said to be driving under the influence of alcohol, on Saturday, knocked down two pedestrians near the Mayfair Garden, in the Epe area of Lagos State, seriously injuring them.
The Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, in a statement on Saturday said operatives of LASTMA rescued the two pedestrians who were seriously injured in the accident.

Lagos estate agent allegedly defrauds client of N36m (Punch)
A 48-year-old estate agent, Nonso Ibekwe, was on Friday, arraigned before the Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court in Lagos State, for allegedly defrauding a client, Samuel Ugbo, of N36m under the pretence of selling land to the client.

Police arrest 2 suspected robbers, recover weapons in Lagos (Punch)
Officers from the Ikeja Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two individuals suspected of armed robbery during a routine stop and search operation in Ikeja.

Woman arraigned for allegedly stealing N100m from employer (Punch)
A 32-year-old woman, Nnoma Nze, accused of stealing N100m from her employer, was on Thursday arraigned before the Ebute-Metta Magistrate Court in Lagos State.
