Commissioner of Health Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Dominic Ukpong, said on Friday said the recent HIV survey results which indicated that the state has the highest HIV prevalence in the country was a misrepresentation of the issues in HIV rating.
The Nigerian HIV/AIDs Indicator and Impact Survey conducted recently had revealed that Akwa Ibom had the highest prevalence rate of HIV in Nigeria.
According to the result, about 5.5 per cent of the people living with HIV in the country are in Akwa Ibom State, followed by Benue State, which has about 5.3 per cent prevalence rate.
