In a statement signed by its Convener, Comrade Seyi Oladipo, the group decried the six-month suspension imposed on Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.

4 die in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash (NewTelegraph)
No fewer than four persons reportedly lost their lives, and nine others sustained varying degrees of injuries in an accident along the Alapako area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday night.
Confirming the tragic incident on Monday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said the bad portion of the road caused the tyre of a Toyota Hiace bus to puncture, causing the vehicle to somersault.
She added that the impact of the crash led to the death of four persons, including the driver and some passengers, while nine others were injured. Read more
Food Security: Canada to create 8,000 jobs in Nigeria (Sun)
Sequel to the introduction of the Canada’s Africa Strategy: A Partnership for Shared Prosperity and Security on March 6, 2025, the Canadian Government has disclosed plans to create 8,000 jobs from a budget of N20.2 billion in Nigeria, particularly in Bauchi, Kano and Kaduna States.
The Minister of International Development of Canada, Ahmed Hussen, announced the new initiative under the Resilient and Inclusive Agri-food Systems Empowering Women and Youth (RISE) project.
The plan, according to a statement made available to Daily Sun by the Canadian High Commission in Abuja, aimed to support women and youth entrepreneurs in Bauchi, Kano, and Kaduna States. Read more
Rivers assembly issues arrest warrant for RSIEC chairman, four commissioners (Vanguard)
The Rivers State House of Assembly has issued an arrest warrant for the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Justice Adolphus Enebeli (Retd.), and four other commissioners following their failure to appear before the Assembly.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has closed registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with over 2,030,627 candidates.
The Guardian reports that this year’s registration figures surpass the 1,989,668 candidates who applied for the examination in 2024.

Importers to pay more as shipping company increases charges (Tribune)
Clearing agents operating at the nation’s ports have kicked against the increment in charges by leading French shipping company, CMA CGM, stating that the increment will add to the economic burden being passed on to the end users of the imported items at the nations markets.
Recall that the CMA CGM recently announced an increment in its charges, blaming it on the recent adjustment of Port & Marine Fees by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Policeman convicted for viral torture video found dead in jail (BBC)
A former Thai police chief who was jailed for life three years ago for torturing a drug suspect to death has been found dead in his Bangkok jail cell, authorities said.
Thitisan Utthanaphon, who was nicknamed Joe Ferrari for his many luxury cars, died by suicide, according to a preliminary autopsy.
In 2021, a leaked video showed Thitisan and his colleagues wrapping plastic bags around the head of a 24-year-old drug suspect during an interrogation, leading to the suspect’s death. Read more

Mahmoud Khalil, a prominent Palestinian activist who helped lead Columbia University’s student protest movement demanding a ceasefire in Gaza, was arrested Saturday night by federal immigration authorities who said they were acting on a State Department order to revoke his green card, according to his attorney.
Khalil’s arrest is the latest escalation by President Donald Trump to crack down on pro-Palestinian demonstrations on college campuses, and comes days after he vowed to deport foreign students and imprison “agitators” involved in “illegal protests.”
Khalil was the forefront of the student-led anti-war movement at Columbia University last year. He was among those under investigation by a new university committee that brought disciplinary charges against dozens of students for their pro-Palestinian activism, according to the Associated Press.
