Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria rise to 4,399

The daily tally of confirmed COVD-19 cases in Nigeria has increased by 248 according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The NCDC announced the new figures via its verified Twitter handle @NCDCgov on Sunday night bringing the total of confirmed infections in the country to 4,399.

The country has so far discharged 778 people who recovered from the disease and recorded 142 deaths.

Below is the latest breakdown of cases from 16 states and FCT: Lagos 81, Jigawa 35, Borno 26, Kano 26, Bauchi 20, FCT 13, Edo 12 and Sokoto 10. Others are Zamfara 7, Kwara 4, Kebbi 4, Gombe 2, Taraba 2, Ogun 2, Ekiti 2, Osun 1 and Bayelsa 1.

Globally, as at Sunday evening Nigerian time, over four million people have been infected with this coronavirus which has resulted in as many as 270,000.

What is more, news from China Sunday said there have been new cases in the Hubei province where Wuhan, considered ground zero for the virus, is located.
