Content creator who dared EFCC with naira abuse video arrested (Guardian)
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday arrested a social media content creator, Muhammed Kabir Sa’ad, for allegedly abusing the Nigerian currency and publicly challenging the commission to take action against him.
Sa’ad, known by his social media handle @youngcee0066, posted a video on TikTok and Instagram in which he was seen throwing Naira notes on the ground and “deliberately stepping on them.”

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the official results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which was conducted from Thursday, April 24.
According to the examination body, over 1.9 million candidates sat for the UTME nationwide.
Data published by JAMB on Monday disclosed that 420,415 candidates scored above 200 out of the 1,955,069 who participated in the representing 21.5 percent. Read more

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said that the arrest of social media influencer, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, was carried out over multiple petitions submitted to its agency.
The anti-graft agency confirmed to BBC News Pidgin through its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, on Monday.
According to him, VeryDarkMan was taken into custody following complaints from several petitioners on the allegation of cyberstalking. Read more

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen has said Nigeria is assuming a continental leadership role in the race to electrify Africa, with a bold target to help provide electricity to 300 million Africans by the year 2030.
The Speaker has also praised President Bola Tinubu’s approval of a $1 billion financing initiative for the Rural Electrification Agency in December 2024.

Over 75% of 2025 UTME candidates scored below 200 – JAMB (Nation)
More than 75 percent of candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scored below 200, according to official data released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Monday.
Out of a total of 1,955,059 registered candidates, only 420,415 scored 200 and above, representing just over 21 per cent of the total.
A staggering 1,534,654 candidates, or 78.49 per cent, scored less than 200 out of the maximum 400 marks. Read more

The Presidency has faulted the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, over his comment that Nigerians were better off in 1960 than they are today.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, stated that Adesina “spoke like a politician” in the mold of the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, without doing due diligence.

Bandits have reportedly killed a woman simply identified as Lami. The victim was kidnapped alongside her husband, Yakubu Dada, on the Kontagora Road in Niger State, on October 31, 2024.
The abductors, who had earlier collected a N10 million ransom from the family, are now demanding an additional N20 million and four Bajaj motorcycles, threatening to kill Dada if their demands were not met.
Daily Trust reported that Dada, a resident of the Brighter Area of Minna and a retired civil servant, was kidnapped a few kilometers to Kontagora alongside his youngest wife while traveling to Kontagora. Read more

Top UN court dismisses Sudan’s genocide case against UAE (CNN)
The International Court of Justice has dismissed Sudan’s case alleging that the United Arab Emirates violated the Genocide Convention by supporting paramilitary forces in the Darfur region.
The court said Monday it did not have the jurisdiction to enact provision measures against the UAE, as Sudan had requested, and its judges voted to end the case.
The UAE was quick to celebrate the ruling. Reem Ketait, the Deputy Assistant Minister for Political Affairs, said in a statement that the decision is “a clear and decisive affirmation of the fact that this case was utterly baseless.” Read more

Trent Alexander-Arnold has announced he is leaving Liverpool when his contract expires at the end of the season, paving the way for a free transfer to Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old confirmed the decision on his social media channels on Monday. He informed the Liverpool head coach, Arne Slot, that he would not be signing a contract extension at the end of March but kept the news private to avoid distracting from the club’s successful pursuit of the Premier League title.
