20 years later, ‘Chicken Run’ still holds up as a revolutionary masterpiece (Metro)
One of my earliest memories of secondary school is my Year 7 English teacher passing a sheet of paper round the room so we could all vote on what film to watch in the last lesson before Christmas.
As it reached the end of the room and the last few people were writing down votes for things like Gladiator and The Mummy, someone cackled: ‘Who voted for Chicken Run?!’
I assume I don’t need to tell you the voter in question was me.
Reader, I was not embarrassed, and I’d do it again! In fact, on this – the week of the Aardman movie’s 20th anniversary, and the announcement that the sequel is coming to Netflix – I’m more confident than ever: Chicken Run is among the absolute best kids’ movies of all time. In fact! I’ll be bolder: Chicken Run is one of the best movies of all time, full stop. Read more
