An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded four men in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for alleged armed robbery.
The defendants are Basiru Mohammed, 43; Pannam Ayuba, 29; Gabriel Abbah, 32; and Ali Mohammed, 32.
The Magistrate, L. A. Owolabi, who did not take the pleas of the defendants, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
Owolabi adjourned the case until July 6 for DPP’s advice.
The defendants are facing a two-count charge of robbery and stealing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Josephine Ikhare, told the court that the defendants committed the offences with other persons at large on June 1, at about 2.00p.m at Ijora/Apapa Bridge, Apapa, Lagos.
Ikhare said that the defendants dispossessed the complainant, Mr Olamilekan Yusuf, of his Infinix Camon 20 android phone worth N90,000 and cash of N50,000 at gunpoint.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 299 and 296 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 299 stipulates 21 years jail term for robbery. (NAN)
