Danny Rose hits back at Ruud Gullit after Tottenham’s incredible victory over Ajax (Metro)

Danny Rose is hoping that Tottenham’s win over Ajax silenced Ruud Gullit after the Dutch legend laughed at their first-leg performance in a thrilling Champions League semi-final.

Spurs appeared down and out after Ajax took a 3-0 aggregate lead in Amsterdam on Wednesday night with Matthijs de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech finding the net in a nightmarish opening 45 minutes for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

However, Fernando Llorente changed the tie after replacing Victor Wanyama at half-time and Lucas Moura was Tottenham’s ‘superhero’ – as Pochettino put it – with a stunning hat-trick to set up an all-English final with Liverpool.

Rose was one of Tottenham’s standout players before his substitution in the 82nd minute at the Johan Cruijff Arena but he was on receiving end of some strong criticism from ex-Chelsea and Netherlands star Gullit after the first leg last week. Read more
