Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has revealed that Unai Emery set up a FaceTime session between Danny Welbeck and the rest of the squad prior to Sunday’s match against Wolves.
The England international looks set to miss the remainder of the season after a horrific ankle injury suffered against Sporting in the Europa League, with club doctors reportedly fearing he has a break, dislocation and ligament damage.
Emery went to visit the forward in hospital on Saturday and was keen for him to speak to the rest of the squad before the match.
Rather than their usual routine, Leno has revealed that Welbeck video-called the squad at their pre-match team meeting to wish them luck and provided some extra motivation ahead of the 1-1 draw.
‘I think he was happy to talk to us because he is still a big part of our team and we will all support him when he is injured,’ Leno told reporters. Read more
